Open Studio is a non-structured time for art-making, creative experimentation, and material exploration.  Non-structured means that there are no lessons taught.  The students have freedom to use the art supplies to implement their own ideas and create their own masterpieces.  Students have access to the art materials in our space.  Acrylics, watercolors, oil pastels, colored pencils, pipe cleaners, beads, stickers, markers, recyclable materials, glue, construction paper, art paper - we have pretty much any art material you can think of!

Who can participate in Open Studio?

​

Anyone ages 3-17 may participate on a Saturday at open studio.  Parents/Guardians of kids ages 3 and 4 will need to stay with them through the art making process.  Ages 5-17 may be dropped off and checked in.  A studio teacher will be there to supervise, to help them with supplies, and answer any questions they may have.

Adults (and parent approved teens) may participate in Sunday open studio. No children under the age of 16 will be permitted during this time.

 

What day/time is Open Studio offered?

Open Studio for kids happens on 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month (except holidays), 1pm - 4pm.

Open Studio for adults happens on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month (except holidays), 1pm-4pm.

 

 

What materials can I use during Open Studio?

​

Students will have access to quality art materials and art paper.  Included materials:

 

• Acrylic paint

• Oil pastels

• Watercolor paint

• Chalk pastels

• Tempera paint

• Markers

• Paint sticks

• Ink & Pen **

• Yarn & loom**

• Colored pencils

• Hot glue guns**

• Collage materials

Students will be responsible for tidying up their art area before they leave (putting away markers, rinsing out their cups, etc).  Respect for all materials, teachers, and others is a must.  We are not a "make a mess and we will clean it up" studio.  We want the students to take pride in their artwork and studio space and to learn necessary skills associated with making art.

 

How can I or my child join an open studio?

There are 3 ways to participate in open studio time:

​

1) Enroll in the semester art classes (Unlimited open studio time during the semester.)

2) Class packs (see below)

3) Single drop-ins - $25

• Choose between 3 discounted options

  • 4 sessions = $90

  • 6 sessions​ = $130

  • 8 sessions = $170

 

 

Reservations:  To ensure that artists have enough room to create, a reservation is required.  This can be made simply by going to our website where you will find links to register (we use Sawyer software), finding the "Sessions" tab, and selecting an "Open Studio" time and day.  If you decide to come without a reservation and there is space, of course you can join!  However, if space has maxed out, you will not be able to participate during that time slot.  You may reserve your time/days one week ahead.  If you make a reservation and need to cancel, please call or email us.  There are also times when we have private parties and certain open studio times will be closed for registration.​​​
